Acoustic Project

The Ensemble will perform program relying on the aspects of folk tradition within the artistic music, merging three very different and seemingly hardly linked music styles and esthetics: suite in baroque, Croatian modern music inspired by folk tradition and Argentine tango.

Acoustic Project

Acoustic Project Ensemble was founded in 2008 at the initiative of its double bass player and composerDubravko Palanović, who has gathered his colleagues and friends, mostly members of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, in an interesting music project.

Center of Acoustic Project Ensemble’s interest is playing with different genres and heritages - from classical music to jazz, from folk music elements to rock elements where almost every performance is a new beginning, that is a new musical idea originating from an immediate inspiration. Unusual sound combinations are achieved by using different possibilities originating from the harmony of two violins, viola, violoncello, double bass, flute, oboe, accordion, piano, vibraphone and drums. At the same time the Ensemble encourages Croatian composers to experiment freely with the sound of the above mentioned instruments and by playing their music it promotes and popularizes national heritage locally and abroad. Ensemble featured many renowned classical and jazz musicians (Marija Kuhar Šoša, Elvis Stanić, Neven Frangeš) realizing very successful and diverse programs.

Guided by the idea that a lot of quality artistic music has actually been inspired by folk heritage and that it is geographic diversity of compositions and movements that makes artistic creation affluent, the Ensemble will perform, in the context of 62nd Split Summer Festival, program relying on the aspects of folk tradition within the artistic music, merging three very different and seemingly hardly linked music styles and esthetics: suite in baroque, Croatian modern music inspired by folk tradition and Argentine tango. The program features Bach’s Orchestral Suite No.2 in B Minor, Händel’s Sarabande in D Minor arranged by Palanović, “Elegy” and “Scherzo” by Fran Lhotka, Palanović’s “Kamena zvijezda” and “Tvoji snovi”, “Suita Delmatika” by Srđan Berdović…
