Fortifications of Split

Duško Kečkemet (1923-2020) was born in Supetar on the island of Brač. He finished high school in Split, and then graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. He worked as a curator in Gipsoteka (now the Glyptothek of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts) since 1945, and later became the director of the newly established Museum of the City of Split. From photographs to old postcards and theater programs, Kečkemet has documented in detail the life and appearance of old Split. He wrote guides for Split, Brač and Kaštela and is the author of numerous bibliographic items published by the Lexicographic Institute. He wrote and published works and monographs dedicated to Split and its public monuments and spend his life collecting data and materials on the life and art of the sculptor Ivan Meštrović.
