The Barber of Seville

CNT Split in cooperation with CNT in Zagreb

Conductor Ivo Lipanović and director Krešimir Dolenčić invite us to the premiere performance of the most popular comic opera, where we will be welcomed by the fireworks of Rossini's melodic invention, constant rhythmic cheerfulness, perfectly composed collective performances, delightful orchestration ... in short, all the reasons why we love Rossini.

The Barber of Seville

Gioachino Rossini is not only one of the most respected Italian and world opera composers of rapid and prolific style earning him the nickname “The Italian Mozart”, but also the creator of the most popular comic opera of all time, The Barber of Seville. The libretto was based on the famous Beaumarchais’s French comedy - where an agile barber, Figaro snatches a young and desirable Rosina from the jaws of her "guardian" Bartolo, and directs her love towards the beloved Count Almaviva. The Barber of Seville when put in Rossini's composing hands experienced more dimensions. Its inexhaustible source of melodic invention has changed the opera world, adding constant rhythmic cheerfulness, perfectly composed collective performances, delightful orchestration ... explains why even after two hundred years, it remains a popular work.
