Aida

Aida at Peristyle is a stunning scenic event that has been leaving the Split Summer Festival audience breathless for over sixty years, with its performances, scenes and costumes, as well as the unique ambience of the seventeen century old Imperial Square.

Aida

This year’s audience will enjoy the most splendid staging of Split Aida, which was premiered four years ago, directed by Dražen Siriščević. Under the musical direction of a brilliant Italian conductor, Gianna Fratta, the first woman to direct the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, this performance will be feature starred by a brilliant Italian soprano,  Daniela Schillaci, who has already won the hearts of the Split opera audience with her demanding opera and concert performances. Powerful dramatic tenor Renzo Zulian performs as Radamès, Božo Župić as the King of Egypt, and mezzo-soprano Sofia Janelidze will be Amneris. Famous baritone Devid Cecconi will impersonate Amonasro this time, while the lyrical aria and the Voice of the High Priestess will be performed again this year by a soprano, Antonija Teskera. Our national principle soloist, bass Ivica Čikeš, is, of course, indispensable and once again he will perform at Peristyle in the role of Ramfis.
