Nabucco

Nabucco, one of his most popular opera, Verdi wrote as a 28-year-old. It was his true life and professional turning point, therefore his words addressed to his publisher Giulio Ricordi are considered to be emblematic: "This is the opera with which my artistic career really begins.”

Nabucco

This is the opera with which the Split opera career of the Nestor of the Croatian theatre Georgij Paro began; and here it is now continuing on the occasion of restoring and adapting his 2003 set, which, as an hommage to her former professor, is signed by Jelena Bosančić. Although Paro as a director has left a legacy beyond comparison from Zagreb via Split to Dubrovnik, his Split performance was only his fourth opera production (after three operas directed in Zagreb), and the first open-air one.

The biblical story of the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar and the destruction of Jerusalem inspired many artists, as well as Verdi and this is believed to be his true masterpiece primarily based on the glorious and lamentation choir arias, immediately accepted by the widest audience.
