Young Musicians’ Concert Cycle “Maestro Vinko Lesić”, launched in 2012, was initially meant as a platform for promoting young musicians to the Split audience. However, it has grown into the real concert season in the meantime, which for the seventh time has been presented to the citizens of Split and their guests by the project partners, Jeunesses Musicales Split and the Split City Museum. The program was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia. This year, among the seventeen contestants, the winner is a clarinettist Branimir Norac, who, besides the symbolic cash prize, and the statue of Maestro Vinko Lesić, work of the academic sculptor Kažimir Hraste, is also awarded by a concert to be performed at the Split Summer Festival. Accompanied on piano by the award-winning Dalija Šaban and guest performances of his acclaimed clarinet colleagues, Ivana Bandalo and Mislav Norac, this year’s laureate will present himself also as a composer, since besides the clarinet compositions by Debussy, Poulenc and Bernstein he will perform two of his own compositions as well.
