After the triumphant success of Nabucco, young Verdi, driven by patriotism and youthful enthusiasm in the midst of the Risorgimento, created a powerful opera, full of tenderness, piety, determination, inexhaustible melodic inventiveness and amazing ensemble scenes.

I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata

Thanks to conductor Ivo Lipanović and director Petar Selem, the opera I Lombardi experienced its first Croatian performance at the Split National Theatre exactly a quarter of a century ago. The second Split edition of this early Verdi opera will be conducted by maestro Lipanović and directed by Robert Bošković.
