This play emerged from a female collaborative process, created by women about women, within women, and for women. It proudly classifies itself as an exclusively female performance, disregarding the male gaze without a care in the world. The only acceptable man is the respectable Dr. Chekhov, while all others are merely morbid minds who fail to truly understand women, continuously misrepresenting them throughout history. But that is just the text. In the subtext, it becomes apparent that it's not entirely men's fault, but rather women themselves, or more specifically, Dalmatian women, who persistently breathe more and more life into the patriarchy. "May You Never Be Happy" delves into foundational questions of women, making it a genuine play for women, particularly for those who have lost their direction, as well as for men who wish to know more.
