Jitka Čechová is a Czech piano player who completed her studies in Prague and later did her master classes in Paris, Freiburg and Weimar. She started her carrier in mid eighties awarded with the highest praise at numerous international piano competitions and at the same time she has been developing her reputation at solo recitals and performing with well-known orchestras all over Europe, South Africa, Japan…
Except for a number of recordings of classical and contemporary repertoire (Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saens, Shostakovich…) Čechová is especially famous for her interpretations of Dvořák, Smetana, Martinů…and even had the honor to be the frst one to excellently perform the piano concert (conducted by P. Alltrichter) by contemporary Czech composer Zdenĕk Lukás. Chamber music is one of the essential ingredients of her musical identity since she has been completely emotionally engaged to performances with the Smetana Trio, even enriching them by duets with violin and cello and solo performances as well.
