Otello - The title of the largest among Verdi's operas
The title of the largest among Verdi's operas Otello gained by the first appearance in Milan's Teatro alla Scala in 1887 and its primacy has not been seized. Verdi did not mind the fact that he returned to opera after a decade break, even more he was obviously aware that Aida (1871) had to be exceed, or he shouldn’t have been into composing at all. Firs the librettist Arrigo Boito gave his maximum in the adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy, and then he himself did his best in order to definitely abort the usual distribution of the closed forms of arias and duets, and incline to the principle of music-stage related development. However, the key of this opera is of course characterization of the main characters: Iago, Desdemona and Othello, where once again Verdi proved unbeatable.
Coproduced by Croatian National Theater Split Opera, Teatro Verdi from Trieste and the Festival Opera from Coruña, Othello is set by maestro Nikša Bareza and director Giulio Ciabatta, starring Valentino Fijačko Split Opera Diva as Desdemona, the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre leading singer Badri Maisuradze as Othello and Paola Rumetza as Iago.
