Nabucco

During Nabucco premiere in 2003 the director Georgij Paro was fully aware that “expectations had to be fulfilled as a result of tradition and at the same time something new had to be found”. Consistent director’s wish for “the audience to hear the singers and see Peristyle while they follow the story relaxed and enjoy Verdi’s music” finally determined his relation towards the opera. Complete fidelity to the score, scenery minimalism, renouncing everything superfluous were the basic guidelines which led this Nabucco directly to the ears and hearts of the audience and opened all door to the sovereign musical interpretation conducted by maestro Ivan Repušić this year.
