Acclaimed theatre director Miloš Lolić is directing “The Misanthrope” in Split

Miloš Lolić is a theatre director, born in 1979 in Belgrade, where he also studied at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts.

He made his directorial debut at Belgrade’s Bitef Theatre (Adam and Eve by Miroslav Krleža, 2002), and throughout his career has staged numerous productions in theatres across Central Europe (Burgtheater Vienna, Residenztheater Munich, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Theater Basel, Slovensko narodno gledališče Ljubljana, Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, Atelje 212 Belgrade, Zagreb Youth Theatre, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Újvidéki Színház Novi Sad, Bühnen Bern, Mestno gledališče Ljubljana, etc.).

He is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including: the Grand Prix “Mira Trailović” at the 43rd Bitef Festival for The Dreamers (Robert Musil, Yugoslav Drama Theatre Belgrade, 2008); the “Politika” Award for Best Direction at the 46th Bitef; the Best Director Award at the “Bayerische Theatertage” Festival for Bluthochzeit (Federico García Lorca, Volkstheater Munich, 2011); the Grand Prix at “Borštnikovo srečanje” for Bartleby, the Scrivener (Herman Melville, Mini teater Ljubljana, 2011); the “Nestroy” Award for Magic Afternoon (Wolfgang Bauer, Volkstheater Vienna, 2012); the “Dorothea Neff” Award for Die Präsidentinnen (Werner Schwab, Volkstheater Vienna, 2014) and for Lazarus (Enda Walsh & David Bowie, Volkstheater Vienna, 2018); the “Sterija” Award for Best Direction and the “Bojan Stupica” Award for Yankee Rose (Slobodan Obradović, Belgrade Drama Theatre, 2022), among others.

He lives between Berlin, Vienna, and Belgrade. This is his first time directing in Split.
