Playwriting Workshop Led by Tomislav Zajec at Marulić Days Festival
The playwriting workshop led by Tomislav Zajec will be part of the Marulić Days festival at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, from April 26 to May 1, 2025.
Over the past eight years, the playwriting workshop has become an active and creative space for exchanging writing experiences among emerging young playwrights and more experienced dramatists. In its ninth edition, it will once again provide new participants with the opportunity to develop well-rounded dramatic texts.
Participation in the workshop is free of charge for all selected participants.
Tomislav Zajec was awarded the Grand Prix at the 29th Journées de Lyon des Auteurs de Théâtre in Lyon in 2018. He is a seven-time recipient of the Marin Držić Award for Best New Play by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, a winner of the Croatian Acting Award, and a two-time recipient of the Marul Award. His plays and adaptations have premiered in around ten countries. He is currently an associate professor at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb.
The workshop can accommodate up to eight participants, regardless of age or gender. The workshop leader will select the participants from the pool of applicants.
Applicants should submit their applications via email to drama@hnk-split.hr and tzajec@adu.hr, with the subject line "For the Playwriting Workshop." The application must include a short biography and a synopsis of the play the applicant wishes to develop or an entirely written dramatic scene.
The workshop sessions will be held daily in the morning and afternoon at the Croatian National Theatre in Split. Participants with work or academic commitments should coordinate their schedules with the workshop leader.
